MTT FreerollsIt took me a little while to get the hang of tournament poker. It was six months before I got anywhere near the prize money. But I kept qualifying for lots of events because of my play at the cash tables and started to improve after reading a few books. My Best Result (so far)The screenshot above shows the best moment in my poker career, winning a the final of a "Dream of a Lifetime" tournament at Dreampoker. The prize was an all-expenses paid $3,500 holiday to Las Vegas. However they actually just paid the cash straight into my a/c. I spent it on something else, so have yet to visit the world's gambling capital. Dream poker were taken over by gnuf.com in Oct 2007 who sadly no longer run this promotion. Stan James FreerollsStan James normally run three decent freerolls a week. Two of them need 10 raked hands to qualify and the big one on Sunday evening needs 100 raked hands. They have 15 minute blinds which gives masses of play if you survive the first 30 mins (the usual all-in fest.) 24ginger is a good player I used to watch on "Poker Night Live". He really bullied the final table and by the time we were heads-up deserved his big chip lead. Chips flew back and forth for a while until we both picked up hands we liked. I was slightly ahead on the flop but he caught his card to win. Well played Ginger. I don't remember too much about this one, except that I had 70% of the total chips once we were down to three players. 3 or 4 hands later I didn't have any! I put these two up to remind myself that the big money is always in the top three places. You can play well for four hours but if you don't do well at the final table you won't get the serious money. |
